Nonpareil
Nonpareil is one of the most famous almond variety originated in California. Tree’s resistance and strength is moderate but sensitive for Monilia disease. Crown structure is spread out and fruit development is stable.
Nonpareil generally is not effected by early spring frosts. It foliates between early blooming varieties (2 weeks later) & late blooming varieties (10 days earlier).
Nonpareil’s fruit size is medium, flat and oval. Shell can be cracked by hand and extracts easily. Kernel quality is high, recovery ratio around 58~63% and weights 1.2gr. Chance for growing double kernel is low (~4%).
Nonpareil can not pollinate itself so additional pollinators must be used. Drake, Marcona, Desmayo Larguetta, Ne Plus Ultra, Texas & Peerles can be used as pollinator.
