Texas is an American originated almond variety. Tree’s resistance to diseases, climatical variations and overall yield is high. Due to late foliation Texas is not effected by late spring frosts. As a result Texas completes fruit development later than other varieties.
Texas’s fruit size is medium, Shell can be cracked by teeth and extracts easily. Kernel quality is average, recovery ratio around 55~60% and weights 1.6gr. Chance for growing double kernel is 15~30%.
Texas can not pollinate itself so additional pollinators must be used. Nonpareil, Marcona, Ne Plus Ultra, Jordanelo can be used as pollinator. Additional for pollinator usage, Texas also can be used as rootstock for grafting from cultivars.
Even though Texas’ fruits consumed as nuts, they also can be consumed as an ingredients in chocolate, sweets and cake.
